95% of the meeting takes place at the conference center which is run independently of the university. There are no dorms available from the University as our contract is with the hotel.

This year's meeting is being conducted at the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus.

AMI has secured a small room block for overflow reservations at the Embassy Suite Hotel-Downtown Indianapolis.

Reservations for the Embassy Suites can be secured by accessing the Mountain Destination registration page.

Room rates (with mention of the AMI meeting) are $139 Single occupancy, $149 Double occupancy.

Check out 11:00 am (luggage can be stored at the desk for late departures)

  • All guestrooms are guaranteed late arrival.
  • Guests are responsible for their own room charges, tax and incidental charges.
  • Overnight parking is $10 and will be billed to individual rooms.
  • Hotel room block with reduced rate is primarily Wednesday through Saturday night.
  • Limited rooms are available on July 13, 14, 15: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday as well as the following July 20; Sunday so please reserve early.
  • The last day of the conference, Sunday- hotel check out is 11:00 am.
  • No late check outs are allowed unless guest has continued night reservation. Luggage must be stored at the front desk or other personal arrangements must be made by the guest/attendee.

    Important: Reservations cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the day (4:00 pm) of the arrival and/or no show rooms will be billed to your credit card. AMI will not be held responsible for these charges.

    Getting to Indianapolis

    :: Bargain Transportation from Chicago, Cincinnati, and Columbus

    Cheap round-trip bus transportation to Indianapolis is now available from Chicago, Cincinnati, and Columbus. This economical Bus Line is called the Megabus.

    The Megabus fleet has very nice buses that run directly to Indianapolis from these three outlying cities, and if you book early, you can ride for as little as $1. That's correct, only $ 1. This is not a misprint.

    For the recent Indianapolis AMI Interim Board Meeting, Pat Thomas actually went round-trip to Indy from Chicago for only $8. This is faster than flying from these cities, with no security lines at the airport or long waits for baggage. This comes highly recommended by both Pat Thomas and Marcia Hartsock.

    So book early for the best rates... you're not going to believe these prices.

    The Indianapolis International Airport offers travel accommodations on 12 airlines with nonstop and direct flights to 39 destinations. Sixty-eight cities are serviced either as direct or non-stop destinations. And it's only nine miles (12 minutes) from University Place.     :: Directions to the hotel

    From I-65 (north and south)
    Take Exit 114 to Martin Luther King Jr./West St. South to Michigan St., west on Michigan to University Blvd. (less than half-mile). Turn right (north) on University Blvd. to North St. (one block). Turn right (east). Entrance to University Place is on right.

    From I-70 (from west, including from airport)
    Take Exit 79A. Turn north (left) at light and follow street until it turns into West St. Take to Michigan St. Turn west (left) on Michigan to University Blvd. (less than half-mile). Turn right (north) on University Blvd. to North St. (one block). Turn right (east). Entrance to University Place is on right.

    From I-70 (from east)
    Turn onto I-65 from north (need to get into far left lane of I-70) and take Exit 114 to Martin Luther King Jr./West St. South to Michigan St., west on Michigan to University Blvd. (less than half-mile). Turn right (north) on University Blvd. to North St. (one block). Turn right (east). Entrance to University Place is on right.

    From I-74 (from west)
    Take Crawfordsville Road exit, continue on Crawfordsville Road to 16th St. Turn right (south) on Capitol to Michigan Street, west to University Blvd. (just over a half-mile). Turn right (north) on University Blvd. to North St. (one block). Turn right (east). Entrance to University Place is on right.

    The University Place underground parking garage is accessible from North St.


    :: Getting around Indy

    IndyGo (Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation) provides options to residents and guests of Indianapolis. There are 30 fixed routes. Including:

  • The Green Line Downtown/Airport Express - $7/ride, 7 days per week, 5 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • The Red Line Downtown/IUPUI Circulator - Free, Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • 27 other Fixed Routes throughout Indianapolis - $3.50/day pass

    IndyGo also offers reservation based Flexible Services, including the paratransit service called Open Door. Visitors are eligible to ride with certified guest passes.
